Covid-19 Ireland: Exact location of today's 506 cases as four counties see big jump

Four counties saw a jump in new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours, new statistics show.

It was announced earlier this evening that a total of 506 more coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Ireland, while one more person has died.

It brings the total number of infections here to 40,086 since the pandemic began.

While sadly 1,817 Covid-19 patients have died in Ireland.

The latest figures were announced by the Department of Health this evening.

And Dublin is once again the hardest hit area, with 91 further infections reported.

This was followed by Cork with 76, Donegal with 53, and Meath with 42.

While the remaining 244 cases are located across 21 counties.

Health officials declined to give a further breakdown of the location of the remaining cases.

The National Public Health Emergency Team also met today to discuss further recommendations and measures.

Their advice has been sent to Government who will examine it further tomorrow.

Of the cases notified today:

  • 240 are men / 265 are women
  • 64% are under 45 years of age
  • 39% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
  • 59 cases have been identified as community transmission
