Covid-19 Ireland: Dublin panto forced to postpone upcoming dates

Panto star Alan Hughes and his husband Karl Broderick have been forced to postpone their production of Aladdin at The National Stadium in Dublin.

Producer Broderick announced that all shows that were due to take place before Christmas have been postponed.

He said: “Due to a Covid incident contained backstage that did not affect any front of house staff in the building and for the safety of our loyal audience, cast, and crew, the producers are taking precautions of postponing shows from December 20 to 23.

“Aladdin will resume on December 26 with the new times of 2pm and 5.30pm.

“You will be rescheduled into a different date of your choice so you don’t have to miss the magic of Sammy and Buddy and Aladdin that has been a smash with audiences so far.

“The Box Office will reschedule your tickets for any of the remaining dates and times. We do hope you will reschedule as we want to bring the magic of Aladdin to you our fans LIVE this Christmas.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but Sammy, Buffy and all the cast will be there from the 26th to Jan 2nd to welcome you and give you the best xmas present with Aladdin.”

Regarding restrictions, Karl previously said: “Like so many in the theatre world, the Aladdin cast and crew were dealt a hard blow when the Government announced shows could only run at 50% capacity.”

But the cast and crew made it work and adhered to Covid-19 guidelines.
