The Department of Health have confirmed that 589 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Ireland in the last 24 hours.
As of 8am today, 62 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 17 are in ICU.
The news comes as hundreds of thousands of fully vaccinated people are being urged to check their spam email folders for their digital Covid-19 travel cert.
Government officials told a Transport Oireachtas Committee on Tuesday that the State aims to issue 1.9 million digital vaccine certs by July 19.
However, Assistant Secretary General at Department of the Taoiseach, Liz Canavan, said “it will be very close to the wire, we may run past the [July] 19".
And one million digital Covid certs are expected to be issued by Wednesday.
It has also emerged that the Covid-19 tracker app, which has been used to alert people if they are a close contact of a confirmed case, will also be updated to allow people to store their Digital Covid Cert (DCC) which will allow them travel within the EU.
Ms Canavan told TDs and Senators the digital wallet in the app is due to be in place between July 19 and July 24.
But a PDF file or a printed copy of an individual’s cert with a QR code will also be accepted.
The DCC will show proof of vaccination, proof of negative test, if required and the Covid-19 status of that person - whether they have recovered in the last six months.
