Ireland has seen another drop in Covid-19 cases as 318 new infections were recorded on Sunday.
Tragically, one more person lost their lives after battling the deadly virus.
The latest figures were announced by the National Public Health Emergency Team in a statement this evening.
The total number of cases now stands at 70,461, while the death toll is 2,023.
It comes as talks continue over what restrictions will be in place for Christmas with Level 5 due to end on December 1.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin said on Friday he was keen for the country to exit lockdown, though no agreement has been reached on what will replace it.
Hopes are mounting that the country will move to Level 3 on December 1 with a specific regime in place for the two weeks around Christmas.
The three coalition party leaders are due to discuss the plans on Monday with the National Public Health Emergency Team also set to meet before a final decision is made.
The Government is also expected to give guidance next week on people travelling home from abroad for Christmas – based on the EU traffic light system which rates risk.
A source said: “It’s too early to say what the outcome will be and we have to weigh up all the factors including public health and the economy.
“But there’s a good chance people will be allowed to cross county boundaries to visit loved ones for Christmas.
“What we could end up with is two weeks of relaxed measures, in the run up to Christmas and up to the New Year.”
