Covid-19 Ireland cases today: Update as 512 more confirmed amid Delta variant warnings

Another 512 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ireland.

In total, 46 people are in hospital with coronavirus, with the number in ICUs around the country unchanged at 14.

No further deaths were reported.

It follows a further 339 new cases in Northern Ireland.

One person died in the past 24 hours with the disease in the region.

It comes as Taoiseach Micheal Martin said Ireland will be hit with a fourth Covid wave by the end of the month due to the Delta variant.

The Taoiseach was in Limerick on Friday afternoon where he told reporters that we will start to see a major increase in the Delta variant in late July.

Meanwhile, Ireland is close to finalising a deal to buy one million vaccines from the Romanian government.

The Irish Mirror understands that the deal is for mRNA vaccines.

The boost for Ireland came just hours after Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said pharmacies across the country can begin to administer Johnson and Johnson vaccines to people aged 18-34 years from Monday.
