Health authorities have confirmed 5 additional deaths related to COVID-19 with 461 new infections.
This means there has been a total of 4,872 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland and 264,204 confirmed cases of the disease in Ireland.
Of the cases notified today, 235 are men and 224 are women. 75% are under 45 years of age and the average age is 28 years old
As of 8am today, 162 patients are hospitalised, of which 46 are in ICU. 9 additional hospitalizations occurred in the past 24 hours.
In terms of the vaccine rollout, 1,317,165 doses of vaccine have been administered in Ireland with 934,980 people receiving their first dose and 382,185 people receiving their second dose.
At present, the five-day moving average is 460.
Elsewhere, Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that Ireland has reached a very significant vaccine milestone.
41,500 vaccine doses were distributed yesterday, making it the highest number of vaccines administered in any one day so far during the vaccine rollout.
25% of eligible adults have now received their first dose, which equates to 948,000 adults around the country.
Additionally, 10% of the population are now fully vaccinated with two doses.
That is 381,000 people who are now fully inoculated against the Covid-19 virus.
In a tweet earlier today, Micheal Martin said: "Biggest day yet in the vaccine rollout yesterday with 41,500 doses given out. 25% of eligible adults now have their first dose - 948,000. And 10% are now fully vaccinated with two doses - 381,000. The vaccines, vaccinators, and volunteers are making a real difference."
