Covid-19 infection rates are now falling in the Liverpool City Region, with the latest figures showing cases are down 12 per cent week on week.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the rate per 100,000 in Liverpool City Region (LCR) is 818 for the week ending January
14. There were 13,935 cases in the last week, which is a week on week change of minus 1,927.
In LCR, the rates are falling fastest in Halton. The infection rate in Halton is 930 for the week ending January 14. There were 1,204 cases in the last week in Halton, which is a week on week change of minus 24.6%.
The fall in Halton reflects the fall across the country. The rate for England is 504, which is a week on week change of minus 20%.

However, the infection rates in the borough of Knowsley - where the rate has also dropped - is still extremely high.
In Knowsley, the rate is 1,178 per 100,000 people for the week ending January 14. This is a minus 12.5% change week on week.

In Liverpool, the rate is 882.5, which is a week on week change of minus 11.2%.
In Wirral, the rate is 807.7, which is week on week change of minus 12.9%.
In Sefton, the rate is 886.7, which is a week on week change of minus 13.4%.
So the rate is falling in five of the six LCR authorities - the only place where the rate is up is St Helens.
In St Helens, the rate is 825.6, which is a week on week change of 2.9%.
