Covid-19 in Scotland: 37 deaths recorded in 24 hours as cases rise by 887

The number of people with a positive coronavirus test in Scotland to have died has risen by 37 in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total death toll in Scotland since March to 3,496.

The latest statistic released by the Scottish Government also confirm there have been 887 new cases recorded overnight, making up 5.9% of all tests and bringing the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 87,517.

234 of these occurred in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, with 246 in Lanarkshire.

1,193 people are in hospital with a confirmed case of Covid-19 - a decrease of 41 on yesterday's figure.

Of these, 100 are in intensive care, which is 12 more than yesterday.

It comes after Glasgow was one of 11 council areas placed under Level 4 lockdown restrictions last night.

All restaurants, pubs and cafes are now closed as well as non-essential retail until December 11.

A travel ban restricting people in Level 3 and 4 areas from travelling outside their local authority has also been made into law.
