COVID-19 hospitalizations drop in N.L., 234 new cases confirmed

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — COVID-19 hospitalizations have dropped in Newfoundland and Labrador, while the number of active cases has risen slightly.

Health officials say there are 13 people in hospital because of COVID-19 — down from 16 reported Thursday.

The number of patients in critical care is unchanged at five.

The province has 234 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,757, a rise of seven.

Officials are reporting 227 new recoveries today.

The province is phasing out its COVID-19 restrictions and plans to remove them all by March 14.
