Libya’s National Center for Disease Control announced a significant increase in the COVID-19 infections, after recording 969 new cases on Friday, with 548 in Tripoli.
The center issued a statement Friday reporting that the total number of coronavirus infections in Libya is nearing 22,000, with over 19,000 active cases, 2,506 recoveries and 352 deaths, since the emergence of the pandemic in the country in March.
The center organized an awareness lecture in coordination with the Endowment Office in the municipality of Souk al-Jumah, on the basics of infection control in mosques, focusing on the role of imams and preachers in educating citizens to combat the coronavirus.
After the lecture, a number of paper prayer rugs were distributed to be used in Friday prayers as one of the steps to combat infection inside mosques, with emphasis on the need to maintain safe social distances between worshipers and wear protective masks.
