Covid-19 Dublin lockdown: What will happen to restaurants, pubs in Level Three and can you leave?

Dublin is on the verge of entering Level Three of the Government's new 'Living with Covid' roadmap.

The capital has seen a spike in coronavirus infections over the last number of days and weeks, prompting health officials to take further action.

The National Public Health Emergency Team is meeting today to discuss new restrictions, and their recommendations will be assessed by Cabinet tomorrow.

The exact measures will not be confirmed until then, but the new roadmap gives us a strong indication of what we can expect.

It is likely that Dubliners will be asked to stay within their own county, unless they have to leave for essential reasons.

And we already know that 'wet pubs' will not be allowed to open in the capital, unlike the rest of the country. This actually contradicts the official Government roadmap, which says wet pubs can open in Level Three.

Mass gatherings are also set to be heavily restricted, with Level Three allowing no organised indoor events, and only visitors from one other household in your home or garden.

Bars and restaurants are also going to face "additional restrictions", but there is no clarity yet over what exactly those are.

Here is the list of restrictions that the Government has said will be implemented at Level Three:

Domestic travel

Stay in your county (or other defined geographical area) apart from work, education and other essential purposes, if appropriate.

Bars, cafes and restaurants (including hotel restaurants and bars)

Additional restrictions for indoor dining.

Organised indoor gatherings

These are controlled environments with a named event organiser, owner or manager.

For example: business, training events, conferences, events in theatres and cinemas or other arts events (excluding sport).

No organised indoor gatherings should take place.

Social and family gatherings

In your home or garden

Visitors from 1 other household only OR your own household only.

This will be determined by the prevailing public health advice for the county or other defined geographical area.

Other settings outside your home or garden

No social or family gatherings should take place in other settings.
