Covid-19: Downtrend continues in Puducherry

PUDUCHERRY: The number of active Covid-19 cases dropped below 4,000-mark after a span of four weeks in the Union territory of Puducherry. The territory reported 190 fresh cases even as 651 patients recovered bringing down the number of active cases to 3,689 on Monday.

Of them, 3,598 are under home isolation and treatment, while the rest 91 are in hospitals.

A 60-year-old man from Puducherry and a 75-year-old woman from Yanam died of the infection taking the death toll to 1,950.

The positivity rate of the samples (1,150) tested on Monday stood at 16.5%. The territory has so far reported 1.64 lakh cases of which 1.58 lakh patients recovered, registering a recovery rate of 96.6%. Healthcare authorities have so far administered 15.43 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine.
