Covid-19 Dashboard reveals 222 new positive tests

More than 200 new positive tests for Covid-19 have been recorded, the Department of Health says.

The ‘daily dashboard’ has recorded 222 new cases as well as one death.

The figures show that the number of people who have passed away after testing positive for Coronavirus increased by two from 573 to 575, however the number of ‘deaths reported and occurring within current reporting period’ is one.

Four is the number of people who are currently in intensive care being treated for the virus. The current 24 hour reporting period is between 10am on Thursday (Sept 17) and 10am on Friday (Sept 18).

The breakdown of age groups for positive infections still shows that the majority are younger with 368 in the 20-39 category over the last seven days of September 12-18. The next largest category is 40-59 with 243 positives while the least number of positive tests is among the 80 and over age bracket that has just 18.

The Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon local government area, recently subjected to local restrictions, is prominent among the figures thanks to 147 positive cases in the last seven days - second only to Belfast which had 229. Those positives cover the period September 12-18. Derry City and Strabane has the third largest number of positives with 96.

The Dashboard also shows that there are currently 27 ‘active’ care home Covid-19 outbreaks.
