A fundraiser has launched to save two hugely-popular Leeds city centre nightclubs affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
We know too well the toll of Covid-19. It has impacted on the health of so many and completely changed how we live our lives. The economy has also taken a massive hit with the hospitality industry taking its fair share of the brunt.
Last week, it was announced Club Mission and its sister venue Tunnel face permanent closure unless vital funds are raised.
Regulars have launched a GoFundMe page to help the two hotspots survive.
A post on the fundraising website reads: “Club Mission and Tunnel are a massive part of the Leeds city nightlife. Tunnel Leeds (formerly Mission 2) is an even bigger part of the LGBT+ history in Leeds, as the only gay club in the area, a safe space to celebrate queer culture for locals and students.
“Coronavirus has hit a lot of businesses hard, but the nightclub industry has been crippled more than most. Mission and Tunnel have gone into administration and without this fundraising it will likely face the permanent closure that has been announced.
“Multiple staff and performers have been made redundant and face longer unemployment and a special piece of Leeds will be lost forever.
“If you’ve ever spent a night there you’ll get it - if you haven’t you need to.”
