Covid-19 concerns sees postponement of club championship matches in Galway and Cork

Covid-19 concerns have postponed club championship games in both Cork and Galway this afternoon.

The Galway IFC semi-final clash between Cortoon Shamrocks and Dunmore MacHales was called off just an hour before throw-in due to a player from one of the teams "coming in close contact with a suspected Covid 19 case".

It follows the postponement of last night's Galway SHC semi-final between reigning champions St Thomas' and Cappataggle after a player tested positive.

In Cork, the SFC quarter-final between Newcestown and St Finbarr's has been provisionally rescheduled for Tuesday evening with Newcestown reportedly awaiting Covid test results.

The last-eight meeting between Ballincollig and Nemo Rangers was postponed on Thursday after Ballincollig reported a positive test in their camp.
