Covid-19 cases update Ireland with 1,392 new cases as Dublin hotspots revealed

A total of 1,392 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ireland, while 288 patients are being treated in hospital.

73 people are in ICU with Covid-19, an increase by six from yesterday.

The five day moving average is 1,311.

There has been a total of 5,179 deaths related to COVID-19 notified in Ireland. The 5-day moving average is 1,212.

After a meeting yesterday, National Public Health Emergency Team has agreed to recommend that the Government proceeds with its plan for a further lifting of restrictions from next Monday, given the latest data on Covid-19.

The requirement for children who are deemed to be close contacts of a confirmed Covid-19 case to be tested and to restrict their movements may also cease at the end of this month.

NPHET agreed that this change could be implemented if no significant in-school transmission is seen in the meantime.

Meanwhile, Dublin has the ninth highest 14-day incidence rate in the country, averaging 487 cases per 100k people.

Some areas in Dublin are leading to a spike in cases in the county.

Ireland's 14 day incidence rate during the 27/07/21 to 09/08/21 was 422.5 cases per 100k.

Here are the local areas in Dublin with the highest incidence rate of Covid-19.

The north inner city had 493 cases of Covid-19 during the period of the 27/07/21 to 09/08/21.

This caused a 14 day incidence rate of 775 in the area, far higher than any other zone in Dublin.

The region with the second highest incidence rate was Rush/Lusk, averaging 625.8 cases per 100k people.

There was 217 cases confirmed there over the two weeks.

The Ballyfermot/Drimnagh area had the third highest incidence rate in the county at 579.6
