Covid-19 cases Ireland update as 284 more cases confirmed with 13 in ICU

A total of 284 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ireland.

13 patients are being treated in hospital, while 53 people are in ICU with Covid-19.

The figures were confirmed by the Department of Health this afternoon.

It's the lowest number of people in ICU since September 15 2020.

It comes as it was revealed Mammy was being shelved by the BBC.

This year’s series of chat show All Round To Mrs Brown’s has been axed.

Bosses have had to scrap the show, which stars Brendan O’Carroll as Agnes Brown, due to coronavirus.

A TV insider said: “Execs have tried just about everything to get this year’s series made, but the restrictions have made it impossible.

“It’s the first year since the show started that it won’t be airing.

“It’s such a shame for everyone involved and of course its millions of viewers.”

All Round To Mrs Brown’s usually airs in the spring and pulls in bumper ratings.

Losing it from the schedule has caused a major headache for execs.

A BBC spokesman last night confirmed the chat show won’t air this year.

But he promised that fans will still be able to get their fix of Mrs Brown.

A statement said: “While All Round To Mrs Brown’s will not be returning this year, fans need not worry as some very exciting Mrs Brown news is coming very soon.”

The sitcom is still due to return to screens on Christmas Day for its annual festive show.
