Covid-19 cases Ireland update as 1,789 more cases confirmed with 56 in ICU

A total of 1,789 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ireland, while 360 patients are being treated in hospital.

56 people are in ICU with Covid-19.

The figures were confirmed by the Department of Health this afternoon.

The Taoiseach announced yesterday that almost all Covid-19 restrictions will end on October 22nd.

The Cabinet agreed to the "Reframing the Challenge, Continuing Our Recovery and Reconnecting" plan at a meeting on Tuesday.

Taoiseach Micheal Marti made an address of the nation speech after the meeting to outline the Government's plans.

However, the new roadmap to freedom is subject to the stability of the virus and 90% of all adults being vaccinated.

Masks will still be required on in health services, retail sectors and on public transport
