Covid-19 cases Ireland update as 1,098 more cases confirmed with 26 in ICU

A total of 1,098 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ireland, while 163 patients are being treated in hospital.

26 people are in ICU with Covid-19.

The figures were confirmed by the Department of Health this afternoon.

It comes as the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly issued a mandatory hotel quarantine update today for those travelling into Dublin Airport yesterday.

He announced his intention to add two more states to the Ireland’s mandatory quarantine list.

People who are not fully vaccinated that have been or travelled through these states in the last 14 days must enter mandatory hotel quarantine.

Georgia and Malaysia have been the most recent additions to the list.

Quarantine for non-vaccinated people travelling from these states will start from 4:00am on Wednesday, August 4.

Kuwait was removed from the list of designated states for mandatory hotel quarantine, with effect from today.

Those travelling into Dublin Airport from a non-designated state have to fill out an electronic passenger locator form before departure.

Plane passengers must have valid proof of vaccination or recovery or be able to present a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours before arrival in the country.

Being fully vaccinated means that you have received the appropriate number of doses of a particular vaccine and have waited the recommended amount of time for that vaccine to take effect.

Tourists that are fully vaccinated are exempt from mandatory hotel quarantine regulations.

Their children or dependents are also exempt from the rules.

The full list of countries on the mandatory hotel quarantine list can be found here.
