COVID-19 cases Ireland update: 9 new deaths and 443 more cases confirmed

Health officials have announced 443 new cases of the coronavirus in Ireland today.

That brings the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 238,907.

There have also been nine further deaths from COVID-19 in the country - three of these deaths occurred in January, two in February, three in March and one in April.

So far, 4,727 people have sadly lost their lives as a result of the disease.

Of the cases notified today:

  • 239 are men / 203 are women
  • 75% are under 45 years of age
  • The median age is 31 years old
  • 208 in Dublin, 32 in Cork, 24 in Kildare, 20 in Meath, 17 in Donegal and the remaining 142 spread across 19 other counties.

932,324 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

  • 660,800 people have received their first dose
  • 271,524 people have received their second dose

The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
