COVID-19 cases in Lanarkshire rise by 22 per cent for March 27

The Scottish Government today said that 140 people have now tested positive for coronavirus in Lanarkshire.

That is an increase of 22 per cent since yesterday, when the figure was at 114.

It comes as 33 patients across Scotland who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died – an increase of eight overnight.

The test numbers for March 27 show:

A total of 12,273 Scottish tests have concluded. Of these:

■ 11,214  tests were confirmed negative

■ 1059 tests were positive

■ 33 patients who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon updated the country in a statement today in Parliament.

Sadly, Sturgeon confirmed 72 patients are currently in ICU.

Earlier, Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed he has tested positive for the deadly disease and is now isolating at Number 10.
