Bendigo's first case of COVID-19 since September last year has been detected.

Bendigo Health says the person was not infectious while in the community.

Meanwhile, two locations in central Victoria, at Ravenswood and Wycheproof, have been downgraded to tier 2 status.

The Caltex service station in Ravenswood, 15km south of Bendigo and Wycheproof's Bakery on Broadway were added to the COVID-19 exposures site list on Sunday night.

The Victorian Health Department confirmed there were two previously reported positive cases in quarantine in the Bendigo and Kyneton area.

They did not acquire their infections locally and have been isolating.

There are no local exposure sites associated with these cases.

It comes after Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton revealed this week that a third of all close contacts are based in regional Victoria.
