PUNE: The Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Saturday added 201 new cases of Covid-19 as against 199 recoveries.
As many as 97 patients were discharged in the PMC limits on Saturday, while 71 were declared cured in the rural areas and 31 in the Pimpri Chinchwad area.
Among new cases, the PMC areas recorded 86, while 78 patients were reported in the rural and Cantonment areas.
A report released by district health officer Bhagwan Pawar stated that two deaths were reported in the region on Saturday. The PMC and PCMC areas recorded one death each. No death due to Covid-19 was recorded in the rural areas. The region’s progressive tally of deaths reached 19,208 on Saturday evening.
With 17,981 samples tested on Saturday, the daily testing has continued to stay above 15,000 in PMR. Over 7,850 samples were checked in the Pimpri Chinchwad area, 6,192 in the PMC areas and 3,891 in the rural areas. With this, the sample testing increased beyond 88 lakh.
The active cases in the region dropped to 1,665 on Saturday, including 1,110 patients in home isolation.
