Coventry stabbing: Man in his 20s dies after being knifed at petrol station

A man was stabbed to death at a petrol station last night.

The victim was found critically injured at a BP garage in Coventry and was rushed to hospital.

However he could not be saved and died overnight.

Two blue tents have been erected in the forecourt of the BP garage in the Foleshill area of the city.

Paramedics at the scene last night administered advanced trauma care on the man before taking the patient to hospital on blue lights, reports Coventry Live.

The entirety of the garage, which was thought to have been open at the time of the attack, was sealed off with police tape.

Police were also alerted to an assault on a 20-year-old man in nearby Princess Street.

Cash and a phone were stolen and the man suffered minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.

Det Insp Stuart Mobberley said: "Our thoughts go out to the family of the young man who has lost his life and we're working to establish the circumstances around his death.

"We believe this may have been a targeted attack and at this stage believe the second incident may be connected.

"So we’re keen to hear from anyone with information which can assist us as our investigations continue."

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10:59pm last night to reports of a stabbing at Lockhurst Lane in Coventry.

"An ambulance, paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care car attended the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found one patient, a man, in a critical condition. Staff quickly worked to administer advanced trauma care on scene before taking the patient on blue lights to hospital.

"Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased at hospital."
