A 16-year-old boy has died from stab wounds after attending a house party, police say.
Paramedics were called to a street in Coventry at 10.30pm on Saturday after a member of the public found the teen collapsed with knife injuries.
Police suspect he may have attended a nearby house party in the Stoke area of the city.
It came around 90 minutes after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death in north London - marking a night of bloodshed on Britain's streets.
West Midlands Police said: "We’ve launched a murder investigation after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in Coventry.
"He had stab injuries and was taken to hospital where, sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he died.
"It’s thought that he may have been at a house party nearby. We’ve sealed off the both scenes for a fingertip search and forensic examination.
"Enquiries are underway to determine what has happened and who is responsible."
Detective Inspector Michelle Allen, from the force's homicide team, added: “This is a tragedy, another young man has lost his life.
“We’re doing all we can to progress our investigation which is in the very early stages.
“I’d like to hear from anyone who was at the party or anyone with any information about what has happened this evening to get in touch as soon as they can."
Meanwhile detectives from Scotland Yard are investigating the separate stabbing of a man in his 20s in London.
Police in the capital said they were called to a street in Hendon, Barnet, at 9pm on Saturday.
Forensics officers were seen investigating a silver car at the scene.
No arrests have been made but "urgent enquiries" are ongoing.
The force tweeted: "We’re investigating a stabbing in Parson St, Hendon NW4 at 9pm.
"A man in his 20s died of his injuries. No arrest yet; urgent enquiries ongoing to establish circumstances."
