Coventry City v Nottingham Forest player ratings: Worrall outstanding, Knockaert impresses in crucial win

Nottingham Forest returned to winning ways as they beat Coventry City 2-1 at St Andrew's.

The Reds had fallen behind to Max Biamou's opener after 17 minutes, but quickly equalised through Lewis Grabban.

And they took the lead in the second half through a Michael Rose own goal.

Here's how Leigh Curtis rated the Forest players.

GARIBALDI RED: Ian Storey-Moore considers himself a 'nearly man'

Brice Samba: Could do very little about the goal, which was all about the pace and accuracy of Max Biamou’s strike. Made a terrific stop to deny Matty James from distance after the break.  Immense handling. 7

Cyrus Christie: Could  have done better for the Biamou  goal by showing him the line but instead allowed him to cut inside, but  did brilliantly for the second goal when his cross led to an OG. 6

Tobias Figueiredo: Sometimes gets drawn into challenges that he does not need to make, but had a solid game alongside Joe Worrall on what was a tricky surface. 7

Nottingham Forest's Glenn Murray battles with Coventry City's Dominic Hyam (PA)

Joe Worrall: Read the game superbly throughout the 90 minutes against a Coventry attack that does have some zip to it. Was outstanding in the second half and snuffed out so much danger. 8

Gaetan Bong: At times he was a decent outlet in attack and he defended well in equal measure. Much better performance than the weekend against Barnsley. 6

Cafu:  Was impressive in the holding midfield role, won plenty of challenges and used the ball simply and effectively, which is just what the role demands.  6

James Garner: Was in the wars on his debut, and could have nicked a goal from a corner in the first half.  Caught the eye with one terrific 60-yard crossfield pass. 6

Anthony Knockaert: Had Sam McCallum on toast in the opening  45 minutes and it was just a shame that Forest didn’t give him the ball more often.  7

Filip Krovinovic: His set-pieces were absolutely outstanding and comes alive in the final third. Can see why the club were so eager to land him on loan. Lots of industry. 6

Sammy Ameobi: Did brilliantly for the goal, didn’t just lash his pull-back into the area, but had the awareness to pick out Grabban.  Forced off at the break due to suspected injury. 6

Lewis Grabban: Goal will do his confidence the power of good. Came to his side’s rescue with a brilliant goalline clearance to deny Leo Ostigard’s header. 6

Subs

Luke Freeman (Ameobi 45): Can see he possesses quality and he showed some decent touches in the time he was on the pitch. 5

Jack Colback (Cafu 71):  Great to see him back in a Reds shirt and was asked to help protect Forest’s lead against a lively Coventry attack. 5

Glenn Murray (Grabban 76):  Was penalised for a couple of fouls when he came on, one of them looked very harsh. 5

Tyler Blackett (Krovinovic 83): Was sent on to help deal with Coventry’s growing threat late on and  helped the Reds see out the win. 5
