Coventry City to limit their interest in Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker to season-long loan

Coventry City's move to St. Andrew's could see them forced to limit their interest in Nottingham Forest striker to Tyler Walker to that of a season long loan, according to manager Mark Robins.

The Sky Blues will next season play their home games in Birmingham, 17 miles away from Coventry, and with ticket sales set to take a huge hit the club are forced to think twice about money they spend.

Earlier this week the club sold striker Conor Chaplin to Barnsley for a reported £1m fee, allowing them ramp up their efforts to land Robins' number one target, Walker.

But the former Manchester United striker has revealed that despite making a £500,000 profit on Chaplin, financial implications of the club's ground share could halt any permanent move to land a new striker.

"No, not necessarily," he told CoventryLive when asked if he would be allowed the money to replace Chaplin.

"I have not asked for that and I don’t necessarily need that.

"And I have got to be mindful because we have to manage the spend, and obviously moving stadium means we’re going to have a shortfall in revenue, and that’s unknown.

"That’s the thing about spinning plates. We have brought players in and the net spend will be negative and we have got to be like that otherwise we’ll put ourselves in trouble.

"We know what we have sold season ticket-wise now but we don’t know what the following will be to Birmingham.

"We know the away following is always spectacular but we don’t get any of the revenue from that, so it’s all those things that have a knock-on.”
