Cove Rangers v Albion Rovers: Reid hoping cup shock can spark life into season

Brian Reid hopes Albion Rovers can pull off a cup shock to spark life back into their season.

Rovers are on a three-game losing streak and face a tough task when they head to League One Cove Rangers today in round three of the SPFL Trust Trophy.

And Reid said: “Wins and goals give you a spark, so hopefully we can go up to Cove and do that.”

“But we are not kidding ourselves on, we know that will be difficult.

“Cove are top of the league above us and they have an experienced team, it’s away from home as well.

“We will be big underdogs, but we need to put in a good performance.

"I'll need to see who is available. We've not got the biggest squad, but we'll go with as strong a squad as we can to get the result."

Key men Declan Byrne and Charlie Reilly remain sidelined for the clash, but Reid added: "We are hoping they'll be back in the next week or two.

"They are both good players so it will be good to have them back for important league matches coming up."
