Cousins up 2 spots in QB rankings

The bad news: Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins ranks 25th in Chris Wesseling’s Week 5 quarterback rankings over at NFL.com.

The good news: That’s a two-spot increase from last week.

Here’s a bit of what what Wesseling wrote about Cousins:

Now that Dalvin Cook is once again bullying defenders and Justin Jefferson is playing with confidence as the No. 2 receiver, the next step is to incorporate TE Irv Smith Jr. into the aerial attack. Drafted to be the pass-catching complement to bruising Kyle Rudolph, Smith has just two receptions for 14 yards through four games.

Cousins has been better over the last two games than he was in the first two for the 1-3 Vikings. Over the last two games, Cousins has combined for more than 500 passing yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

On the season, Cousins has completed 62% of his passes (26th in NFL) for 883 yards (23rd), six touchdowns (19th) and three interceptions.

He’ll have his next chance to rise up in the rankings on Sunday night against a bad Seattle pass defense.

To round out the NFC North, Aaron Rodgers ranks first, Matthew Stafford ranks 19th and Nick Foles ranks 26th.
