Cousins caught pushing drugs in St Werburghs ended up in court.
Police looked on as Hakim Sharif handed an item to a drug user in a park.
They detained him and found his cousin Assoweh Jacques was driving him in a BMW.
Sharif, 31, and Jacques, 30, both of Halston Drive in St Paul's, jointly pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
Jacques also pleaded guilty to possessing 1g of cocaine found on him.
Judge Julian Lambert jailed Sharif for 2,045 days.
He handed the lesser involved Jacques 21 months' prison, suspended for two years.
Jacques was also told to perform 200 hours' unpaid work and live with his parents.
The judge told Jacques: "I believe it was foolishness on your part.
"You fell in with your cousin who was an extremely bad influence on you."
Ellen McAnaw, prosecuting, said police found Sharif had 18.2g of 81 per cent pure crack cocaine concealed in his hair.
Officers also recovered £3,340.07 in cash.
Sharif's mobile phone was forensically examined and contained messages relating to drug supply.
Neil Treharne, defending Sharif, said his regretful client had smoked crack cocaine all his adult life and ran drugs after becoming indebted to a drug dealer.
Harry Ahuja, defending Jacques, said his client had thought if he helped his cousin it may hasten an end to his "negative ways".
