Cousins set to face trial for murder of Weston-super-Mare man at end of this month

Two men are on course to face trial for murder, and one for assisting them to evade justice.

Cousins Curtis Ford, 28, of Baildon Road, Weston-super-Mare, and Samuel Ford, 30, also of Baildon Road, both deny the murder of Mikhail Hanid.

Mr Hanid died in hospital on June 30 after suffering stab wounds during an incident on Ridgeway Avenue in the early hours of Saturday, June 27.

In a tribute his family said he "was a kind and gentle person, who loved being with people".

Dominic Palmer, 32, of Dunster Crescent in Weston-super-Mare, denies a charge of assisting an offender on June 27.

The case was the subject of a 42-minute hearing at Bristol Crown Court today. (November 10, 2020)

The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC checked with both prosecution and defence parties that the case will be ready for a Covid-19 safe trial at the court on November 30.

Curtis Ford appeared via video link from HMP Exeter while Samuel Ford was produced from custody to the court, alongside Palmer who is on conditional bail.

The court heard the case is on course to be heard as planned.

The prosecution case, conducted by Kate Brunner QC, will likely run until December 14 or 15.

Covid-19 safety precautions will include social distancing and use of protective screens.
