Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins turned 32 on Wednesday.
Cousins has already spent eight seasons in the league, but the end isn’t on his radar yet.
“Certainly my dream would be to be able to play a long time,” Cousins said via the Pioneer Press. “At the same time, I always kind of take each year as it comes. But there’s no doubt that to even have success this season, and stay healthy, and have your body feeling good, it takes good habits and a good plan.”
With the NFL rules, we’ve seen quarterbacks better protected, thus having longer careers. Tom Brady is about to start this season at 43 years old.
Depending on how long Cousins plays, it will be interesting to see how much money he makes. Cousins has already secured more than $100 million. That doesn’t include more than $70 million he has coming over the next three seasons. By the time Cousins’ three-year deal with the Vikings is up, he’ll be 35, likely still in line for another big contract.
Last year, at 31, Cousins won his first-career playoff game against the Saints.
