A prominent pro-Palestine activist who scaled a weapons manufacturer's facility has been let off with a good behaviour bond, in what she suggested was an example of turning tides.
Juliet Lamont was among eight protesters who scaled the roof of Electro Optic Systems (EOS) in Canberra in July 2025. Others locked themselves to the entry of the business.
Signs were unfurled on the roof and messages were spray-painted before police arrived.
EOS is the manufacturer of the R400 weapons system, which has been trialled by the Israeli government in Gaza.
Lamont was arrested and charged with trespass, for which she pleaded guilty in the ACT Magistrates Court.
A magistrate on Tuesday sentenced her to a six-month good behaviour bond.
She will be fined $5 during that time if she partakes in peaceful protest.
"It feels like a win today," Lamont said.
"The magistrate took it into account that I am of good moral character, that I am a peace activist and peace activists act non-violently."
Lamont has twice tried to breach Israel's naval blockade of Gaza by travelling in an international flotilla to deliver aid.
She alleged that she was raped and physically assaulted by Israeli solders when she was detained as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla in early 2026.
But Ms Lamont said her ongoing protest work remained vital.
"We have to stop the genocide and ordinary people like myself can do it and can call out complicity. It's a good day. Maybe the tide is changing," she said.
