Courteney Cox's secret property career as it's revealed she's made millions flipping houses

Courteney Cox may have made a fortune working on Friends for a full decade – but the star made even more money at the same time by flipping properties for profit.

The 56-year-old American actress has been running a side business as a property selling expert since the 1980s – buying run-down properties and renovating them to then sell on.

Back in 1987, Courteney starred in the He-Man film Masters of the Universe alongside fellow actor Robert Duncan McNeill – who subsequently found stardom on science fiction series Star Trek: Voyager.

Recalling his time working with Courteney in the fantasy film, 56-year-old Robert spilled the beans on how Courteney launched her side-career, and always had a keen eye for a bargain.

He said on The Delta Flyers podcast: “Back in the olden times when I did a movie called Masters of the Universe, before Star Trek: Voyager, Courteney Cox was in that movie and we were really good friends.

“And Courteney, even back then she was not as successful as in her Friends days and that, she had bought a house just before that, fixed it up and sold it.

“And then bought another house, right after Masters - you know, a little ranch house, nothing special, but she loved doing those remodels and renovations.

“I heard, we’ve lost touch, but I heard that even in those friends days that she would buy - she loved to flip houses. She loved to remodel, renovate, and then flip it out.”

Delta Flyers co-star Garrett Wang was impressed with the details, and marvelled at how much money Courteney would have made while buying and selling properties in her Friends heyday.

He said: “I had always heard stories about Courteney doing what she was doing - the whole remodelling. But I didn’t know that started way back.

Fellow actor Robert Duncan McNeill peeled back the secrets of Courteney's success on his podcast, The Delta Flyers (Getty Images)

“The minute she got on Friends, clearly, then she had the capital to really dive into this! I mean, if you’re getting paid $1 million dollars per episode (£710,000) that’s a lot of capital to work with to remodel properties!”

Robert went on to reveal Courteney’s love for a bargain also extends to classic cars.

He said: “I remember one weekend I wanted to go out to Pomona to the fairgrounds because they were having a car auction. I mentioned to Courteney I was like ‘hey I’m going to go out to the car auction. I’m curious. Maybe there will be something fun.’

“I wasn’t planning on buying anything. I was just going for fun. She was like ‘old vintage cars? That sounds like something fun you could fix up?’

“She went to the car auction with me and bought a car! She bought a 1960s Mercedes Benz convertible. I remember her saying ‘I just love this car! If only it had a little bit of polish’. I think she kept that Mercedes for quite a few years.”

Courteney is said to be worth a reported $120 million (£86 million) following her successful career which has seen her acting across the past five decades.
