Courteney Cox marks Lisa Kudrow's birthday with classic Friends throwback

Fifteen years after the Friends finale aired, Courteney Cox reminded fans why they loved the show so much with an epic throwback for Lisa Kudrow’s birthday.

Cox wished her former co-star a happy belated birthday on Instagram early Wednesday morning - after Kudrow turned 56 on 30 July.

“I’m late (except in Hawaii) in wishing my favorite super hero @lisakudrow the happiest of birthdays,” Cox wrote alongside a picture of the two of them dressed up on a Halloween episode of their legendary sitcom.

She added: “She’s smart, she’s kind, she’s quick, she’s a great mom, friend, wife, daughter, sister, actress, and funny as hell. I love you loot [sic].”

The actress, 55, shared a photo on Instagram of characters Monica Geller and Phoebe Buffay dressed as Catwoman and Supergirl from the November 2001 episode, The One With The Halloween Party.

The season 8 special memorably sees Phoebe say “Ah, Catwoman. So we meet again,” to which Monica replies darkly: “So we do… Supergirl.”

Phoebe then leans in with the punchline: “No – it’s me! Phoebe!”

This isn't the first time the Friends ladies have sent their fans into a frenzy with proof of their off-screen friendship.

Back in June, for Cox’s birthday, Lisa met up with fellow co-star Jennifer Aniston to celebrate the big day.

Cox wrote a caption, saying: “How lucky am I to celebrate my birthday with these two??? I love you girls. So much.”

Kudrow replied in the comments section: ‘LOVE you girls! Happy happy Court.’

However, the happy pictures do not indicate any chance of an actual TV or film reunion as showrunner Marta Kauffman recently shut down rumour of a comeback, saying that doing one could disappoint fans.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Kauffman explained: “There are several reasons. One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It’s not that time anymore.

“All we’d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone.”

She added: ‘I don’t know what good it does us. The show is doing just fine, people love it. [A reunion] could only disappoint. ‘The One Where Everyone’s Disappointed.”’
