Courteeners at Heaton Park: support acts, stage times, tickets, weather forecast and everything else you need to know

Courteeners will play a huge headline show at Heaton Park this weekend, supported by Manchester icons James as well as DMA's and Pale Waves.

50,000 fans are expected to descend on the north Manchester park for the concert, making it the joint-largest concert of their careers (tied with 2017's gig at Old Trafford Cricket Ground).

The Middleton band will be performing on the same stage that hosted Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds last Friday, as well as the likes of George Ezra, Mabel and Blossoms at Parklife last weekend.

It comes off the back of their headline spot at the recent charity gig Raise The Roof, which took place at O2 Victoria Warehouse on May 24 with Blossoms and Bugzy Malone.

Although lead singer Liam Fray posted on Instagram at the end of April to confirm that the group have finished recording their sixth studio album, an official release date has yet to be confirmed.

Here's what you need to know ahead of Courteeners' Heaton Park gig on Saturday June 15.

Support acts

James

"I mean, that's just a f***ing joke, innit?" Liam told the M.E.N. when we asked how it felt to have Manchester legends James supporting.

The rock band originally formed back in 1982, with Tim Booth at the helm, and despite a seven-year hiatus have managed to release a whopping 15 studio albums.

They're best-known for their singles Come Home, Sit Down and She's a Star, and will be hitting the stage ahead of Courteeners on Saturday.

DMA's

Australian three-piece DMA's may only have two studio albums behind them, but it's not stopped them from gaining a huge following.

The group, who have previously supported Courteeners on tour, will be joining the bill with their indie rock anthems that have seen them compared to Oasis and The Stone Roses.

Pale Waves

Manchester's very own emo-pop band Pale Waves performed on one of the biggest stages in the city in support of Muse last weekend - now they're to repeat the act at Heaton Park.

Their debut album My Mind Makes Noises was released in September last year and reached the top 10 of the UK albums chart, spawning singles Kiss, Eighteen and Television Romance.

Weather forecast

The weather was fairly dismal throughout Noel Gallagher's show and Parklife festival, with much of the ground around the main stage turned into a muddy bog.

It's looking slightly brighter for the Courteeners gig though, even if the rest of this week is a wash-out.

The Met Office predicts a 40% chance of rain between 4pm (when gates open) and 8pm, lessening to 10% from 9pm onwards.

Temperatures should sit between 16°C and 12°C.

Stage times

Although doors will open at 4pm, with a curfew of 10.45pm, the exact stage times have yet to be confirmed by Courteeners.

Tickets

How to buy tickets safely online

All 50,000 tickets for the Heaton Park gig sold out less than three hours after going on sale.

To get tickets for Saturday night now, you're best to use an official fan-to-fan resale site, but always proceed with caution and don't get caught out with fake tickets.
