Court shown video of Coatbridge man attacking male who was pushing wheelchair

A video has been shown in a court of a violent Coatbridge man attacking another male pushing a wheelchair from behind.

The troubling incident followed an argument and took place at an exit door at a pub in the Auchenlarie caravan park in March.

Sheriff Ross McFarlane watched as the wheelchair was being pushed towards the exit as another door behind opened, and 31-year-old Thomas Fennessy burst in behind the victim and showered him with punches.

In the court at Dumfries, Fennessy admitted repeatedly punching his victim on the head.

Solicitor David Orr said that far too much alcohol was at the root of the problem and Fennessy couldn’t explain why he did it and was extremely ashamed of his actions.

Sentence was deferred to July 31 for background reports.
