A company and a woman have been given a suspended jail term and fined for complicity in the production of fake armpit-whitening products in the Magic Skin cosmetics case.
Prayut Phetkhun, deputy spokesman for the Office of the Attorney-General, announced on Thursday that Hanew Korea Co and Pajaree Wongsomboon, 33, confessed to being hired to produce Treechada Underarm Serum, in contradiction of the product's registration as being made by Magic Skin Co.
The Criminal Court, on Dec 20, 2018, fined the company 75,000 baht and sentenced the woman to six months in jail.The court suspended the prison term for two years, he said.
It was one of many legal cases involving Magic Skin Co, which was accused of producing fake cosmetics and dietary supplements, distributing false information on computer systems and defrauding customers.
Many celebrities were hired to endorse its products.
No reason was given for the delay in announcing the court's ruling.
