A Taiwanese court has ordered a mother to pay thousands after she threw out her son's comic book collection, according to a report.

The case came to light after a long-standing conflict escalated between a mother, with the surname Chien, and her 20-year-old son, who is an avid collector of manga and comic books, according to the Taipei Times.

Chien has battled with her son about the limited space in their home. After Chien's son refused to throw out the collection, she took it upon herself, and tossed 32 issues of "Attack on Titan" in the trash.

Chien had "disposed of the manga series, because they had begun to develop mold from the humidity," the Taipei Times reported.

The son was expressed that some comics were out of print and irreplaceable, leading to a legal dispute in the Chiayi District Court.

Despite wanting to settle out of court, Chien failed to show up for a follow-up questioning. She was then ordered to pay NT$5,000 ($156) in damages for her actions.
