Court hears how thug attacked partner at Wishaw flat over cheating claims

A thug attacked his lover after she claimed he had cheated on her, a court heard.

Andrew McCaw pounced on the terrified woman at her flat in Wishaw last November.

The victim confronted the 34-year-old after being told about his alleged adultery.

McCaw punched and kicked his partner before dragging her from a bed leaving her yelling for help.

McCaw – who already had a long history of violence last week pled guilty to assaulting the woman to her injury.

He had initially faced an attempted murder allegation – including claims he set fire to a bed while his lover was in it.

McCaw was sentenced to two years and three months at the High Court in Glasgow.

But, he must first serve 117 days from a previous jail-term for housebreaking that he was freed early from.

The court heard that McCaw, of New Stevenson, was no longer with the woman and that the relationship was “now effectively over”.
