Court hearing for accused highway shooter

A Geelong man accused of a shooting murder on a highway has refused to appear in court. (AAP)

A Geelong man has refused to appear in court over the fatal shooting of a man on a highway.

Daniel Eagle was killed just after 6am on Saturday on the Princes Highway at Corio, in the city's north.

His alleged killer Joshua Rozynski asked not to be brought into court for a filing hearing in Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday.

Rozynski, 26, was arrested and charged with murder on Sunday.

According to court documents its alleged he fatally shot Mr Eagle at 6.05am on the corner of Princes Highway and Harpur Road.

Police say the two men knew each other.

Rozynski's lawyer Zoya Tvarkovski said this was her client's first time in custody.

He's due back in court for a committal mention on August 6.
