Court date for Belmont man after alleged 0.282 reading

A MAN will face court next month after allegedly driving through Fern Bay while almost six times the legal limit.

The Belmont man, 50, was stopped in an unregistered Subaru Outback on Nelson Bay Road shortly before 5.30pm on Thursday. Port Stephens-Hunter Highway Patrol officers spoke to the man, subjecting him to a roadside breath test.

He was arrested due to a positive result and taken to Raymond Terrace police station.

Police will allege a secondary breath analysis conducted at the station returned a reading of 0.282.

The man received a court attendance notice for high-range drink driving.

He is slated to appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on March 29.

Police said the man also received an infringement notice for driving an unregistered vehicle, and his licence was suspended. The driver was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station for a secondary breath analysis which allegedly returned a reading of 0.282.
