The Supreme Court has been asked to suspend Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, leader of the People's Party (PP), from serving as an MP over allegations he violated court instructions linked to the case involving 44 former Move Forward Party lawmakers.
Speaking at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, activist Nopparuj Worachitwutikul said he filed the petition after reviewing a court order from hearings involving 10 MPs from the now-dissolved Move Forward Party (MFP), including Mr Natthaphong, who had supported amendments to Section 112 of the Criminal Code, the lese majeste law.
Mr Nopparuj said the court had instructed the MPs not to repeat actions or make statements similar to those cited in the complaint, warning that failure to comply could prompt the court to reconsider its earlier decision allowing them to continue performing parliamentary duties.
Mr Natthaphong on May 21 made comments referring to certain senators as the "blue regime", which he believes have breached those conditions. The blue regime refers to the Bhumjaithai Party, which some senators are thought to back.
