Courageous Alex Dyer delivers emotional Kilmarnock message as he tells vile racist they will never win

Brave Alex Dyer insisted the racist abuse he’s received won’t derail his determination to succeed with Kilmarnock.

The Rugby Park club received a letter containing racial remarks aimed at their manager on Monday in the wake of a 2-1 defeat to Livingston. Police Scotland are investigating.

Speaking after guiding Killie to a huge win over bottom six rivals Motherwell, Dyer stressed: ‘It is not going to change the way I think or what I want to do.

‘I give my all for Kilmarnock and I will never ever let someone like that deter me.

‘I don't mind someone telling me to go if they don’t think I’m a good manager - but not about the colour of my skin. It’s not right.

‘It hurts but Kilmarnock are not about that. Everybody here has been great. It is just one individual who doesn't like my colour.

‘It's not new, it doesn't surprise me. But it doesn't represent Kilmarnock Football Club whatsoever.

‘I don't feel good about it, it's not nice. It's in the right hands now and the authorities will deal with it.

‘But it just tells you we've got a long way to go. And we’ll continue taking the knee because there are people out there who don't appreciate what we're doing.’

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson’s miserable run was extended to nine games without a victory in all competitions.

And he was disturbed by the response from his players after Greg Kiltie’s first half goal against the run of play.

Robinson said: ‘They score with their first chance and our heads dropped. Of course it’s a worry when heads go down like that but that’s what happens when you lose football matches.

‘Ultimately, though, I’ve brought these players to the club and I’ve put them on the pitch.

‘Some of them aren’t performing. Some have had their heads turned and possibly believe that they’re better than they are.

‘Unfortunately, that happens in football: you’re at the mercy of agents and others.

‘But they’re not playing at the top of their game, simple as that and I have to look in the mirror too because it’s my fault.’
