Couples struggling to have a baby wanted for BBC documentary

Couples in Glasgow who are struggling to have a baby are wanted for a new BBC Scotland documentary.

Making Babies, a documentary on unexplained infertility, will follow couples who are struggling to get pregnant.

Infertility is more common than you might think as around 3.5m people - 1 in7 couples - experience difficulties conceiving.

Very rarely, however, is it a topic of conversation around the watercooler.

More and more, people of all ages are discovering that their dreams and plans of starting a family are not as achievable as they once believed.

The documentary will reveal the reality for those at the hard end of infertility – desperate for a family, but without answers as to why that dream is denied them.

The documentary, narrated, directed and produced by Laura Jane McRae, we’ll meet real couples who are – or have been – at the sharp end of unexplained Infertility. In this way, the documentary will give a complete picture, from start to finish, of this growing, modern problem.

BBC Scotland are looking for couples who would be willing to take part in an on camera (recorded – not live) interview for the show to discuss what you did whilst you were trying to conceive (pineapples, hot water bottles etc.), what advice you were given along the way, what infertility feels like and how you deal with pregnancy announcements from others.

If this is something you’d be interested in please email making.babies@bbc.co.uk.
