A novel new mode of transport has been introduced for those set to marry at a Lanarkshire hotel.
Reminiscent of a James Bond movie, the groom and best man, or the bride and bridesmaids, can now arrive at the Alona Hotel, Motherwell, in style - in a speed boat!
There are two boats available for hire, which are supplied by Strathclyde Country Park, and can accommodate a bridal party of two up to 12 people. A jetty is available at the Watersports Complex and outside the Alona Hotel.
Iain Donnachie, general manager of the Alona Hotel told Lanarkshire Live : "More and more couples are looking for that special thing that makes their wedding different and the opportunity to arrive in a speed boat certainly does that.
"We are fortunate to have such terrific surroundings on our doorstep and for summer weddings it’s a great addition to the prefect day.

“We’ve had a great response to the idea, especially from grooms, and we always strive to do everything we can to ensure there are no choppy waters for any of our couples. It’s a bit of fun and helps relax any last-minute nerves before the big occasion."
The hotel is hosting a Wedding Open Day this Sunday, July 18, from 12pm to 4pm when brides can find out more about the boat hire and hosting a wedding while enjoying a glass of fizz and canapes.
