A couple have been given the go-ahead to resume family life nine months after council social services bosses began family court litigation as a result of their baby son suffering a head injury.
Social workers thought that the little boy might have suffered an "inflicted non-accidental injury" when about eight months old.
Council lawyers began legal proceedings which could have resulted in him being taken into care.
But litigation has been halted after medical evidence showed that he had probably fallen off a bed.
Detail of the case has been outlined in a ruling by a High Court judge who was overseeing the litigation.
Mr Justice Keehan, who is based in the Family Division of the High Court in London, has approved the halting of care proceedings.
He says he is "entirely satisfied" that the little boy was hurt "in the course of a fall from the bed".
The judge has not identified the little boy or his parents, but said the family lived in the Midlands.
He said Birmingham City Council had responsibility for little boy's welfare and had begun litigation.
The judge said social services bosses had proposed taking the little boy from his parents and placing him with foster carers while litigation was on-going.
But he said he had been against such a move.
He said, instead, the couple's care of their son had been supervised.
