A couple are desperate for a refund so they can rearrange their big day after their Thomas Cook dream wedding collapsed.
Michele Stewart, 50, and Ian Ramshaw, 45, are among 50,000 yet to receive a settlement after the travel giant went bust in September.
In October they were supposed to marry at the Olympic Lagoon resort in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, watched by a large group of family and friends.
They are entitled to money back from the Civil Aviation Authority for the £12,000 wedding package, which included the ceremony, rooms and flights for a party of 21.
However, the CAA has more than 300,000 claims, with about 215,000 confirmed as valid.
Health and safety consultant Michele, who booked with Thomas Cook near their home in Consett, Co Durham, told of negotiations with the CAA. “I did wonder how many others are struggling to get money back.
"It’s not our fault Thomas Cook went bust before our wedding. We are trying to rearrange it for next year but we need the money to do it.”
To make matters worse, Ian has recently lost his job in sales.
CAA director Paul Smith said the authority is working tirelessly to process payments, with £160million refunded so far, but incomplete claim forms and attempted fraud add to delays.
About 150,000 Thomas Cook travellers were repatriated to the UK in a CAA operation.
About two-thirds had been refunded by the deadline at the weekend.
