Couple subjected to terrifying knifepoint carjacking in Swansea

A couple were carjacked at knifepoint in Swansea in broad daylight.

The man and woman were in their Audi A1 car in Park Place, Brynmill , on Monday evening when they were approached by two men, both described as white, at least one of whom was armed with a knife.

There was a confrontation in which the male driver of the vehicle was threatened, while his wife sat in the passenger seat.

Both passengers were described as ‘very shaken’ following the incident.

Police are now hunting the men responsible and have appealed for people to come forward with information.

Uplands resident Kim Evans saw the aftermath of the incident.

She said: "I was walking my dog in Brynmill Park and I saw the car driving up Oakwood Road at the side of the park.

"The driver had a white hoodie pulled tight over his face, and I thought that looked a bit dodgy because it was a warm evening.

"It chucked a right up Glanbrydan Avenue, and then I got to the bottom of the park and I could see a couple of police vehicles, and a number of people there talking to them (the couple).

"It was a beautiful sunny evening and the young couple were understandably very shaken."

Uplands councillor Peter May added: "Hopefully, the police will receive information that will help them bring whoever was responsible for this to account.

"It is important to remember this is unusual for Brynmill and Swansea , and Brynmill remains a positive and vibrant place to live".

The vehicle was later recovered in Rock Terrace in Morriston.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We were called at 7.20pm yesterday to reports of a car being stolen in Park Place, Brynmill.

“The occupant of the car had been threatened with a weapon.

“The suspects are described as two white men.

“The first was about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, wearing a cream coloured hoody with the drawstring pulled tight over his head and cream coloured jogging bottoms.

“The second was wearing a dark blue hoody.”
