Couple stunned to find note on their car telling them not to park in their own street

A couple were stunned to find a note left on their car warning them not to park on their own street.

Nicci Williams from Buckley in Flintshire said she and her partner discovered the handwritten message, which had been placed inside a plastic wallet and left on the vehicle, on Tuesday, March 23. It read, "Don't park here this is resident's parking ONLY. There is a free 24 hour car park around the corner next to small shop. Details taken and reported to council."

Incensed, Nicci - who's lived on the street for three years - described her "disbelief" at being targeted and called the note "absolutely ridiculous." "We parked behind our house on a street with no double yellows or disabled lines, road tax paid and Highway Code abided by - so report us to who you like," she posted on Facebook.

"Absolutely ridiculous that people think they're entitled to tell others where to park. Any damage to the car and we’re sending the police to your door, we know exactly who you are.

"And it's not residents parking - residential parking would mean parking permits, there are absolutely no restrictions for parking here." Speaking to North Wales Live, Nicci said: "We were both in disbelief really, we have lived here for nearly three years and have always parked there."

The pair hit back on social media saying they'd done nothing wrong (Nicci Williams)

But this isn't the first time something like this has happened, she added.

"One of my friends visited when we had not long moved in to wish us well and see if we needed anything. She returned to 'do not park here' written on her car - it wasn't even a note on the car, they literally wrote it on the bodywork.

"It's been a problem here for a while. But what's annoyed us is that they've said we've been reported to the council.

"The thing is, if they’ve reported us for parking nothing will be done, but if they've said the car's been abandoned it may end up being removed. However, we're hoping that’s not the case."
